Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe was forced to declare a state of emergency Saturday as fascist ‘Alt-Right’ protesters besieged Charlottesville while giving Nazi salutes, spewing gay slurs and racist rhetoric.
Local officials have expressed the need for additional resources to contain the situation as the rally grew increasingly more violent. Donald Trump remained silent until now following the protests as he vacations at his luxury golf course in Bedminster, N.J.
“We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!” he tweeted.

First Lady Melania Trump tweeted, “Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let’s communicate w/o hate in our hearts. No good comes from violence. #Charlottesville”

Obviously, Melania doesn’t realize that Nazis are not full of love and compassion. They are hate but thanks for the weakly-worded statement, Dear.
The alt-right Nazis, along with white supremacist groups, gathered to protest the city’s decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
The Virginia governor declared a state of emergency, adding, “I am disgusted by the hatred, bigotry and violence these protesters have brought to our state over the past 24 hours.”
“Governor McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency to aid state response to violence at Alt-Right rally in Charlottesville,” states his official Twitter account.

The Washington Post reports:
Men in combat gear, some wearing bicycle and motorcycle helmets and carrying clubs and sticks and makeshift shields fought each other in the downtown streets, with little apparent police interference. Both sides sprayed each other with chemical irritants and plastic bottles were hurled through the air.
Vicious clashes ensued in front of Emancipation Park, where the rally was to begin at noon. A large group of white nationalists holding shields and swinging wooden clubs rushed through a line of counter-protesters. Fully armed militia members and right wing racists inundated the park.
Police, after doing nothing when the violent clashes took place, finally ordered everyone to vacate the park. That’s when Trump-supporting white nationalists marched out of the park, carrying Confederate flags and Nazi symbols, while counter-protesters mocked them. After that, even more skirmishes broke out.
So far, at least two Republicans have stepped forward to condemn the racist protesters, somehow shocked that their own voters have a problem with black people, immigrants, gays, etc.
