After Waffling On Whether Russia Interfered, Trump Takes Putin’s Word Over US Intel


Over and over, Donald Trump has been asked if he believed that Russia was involved in hacking that took place during the 2016 election. Most recently, on Thursday in Poland, he said he thought it was Russia — and any number of other countries, which he of course did not name:

It could have very well been Russia but it could well have been other countries and I won’t be specific but I think a lot of people interfered. Nobody really knows. Nobody really knows for sure.

Friday we got a much more definitive answer out of the Trump administration, and it’s just what you feared:

Well, if your best friend Pootie says so, I guess that’s all cleared up, then!

In fact, Russia was defiant, demanding proof of them doing anything wrong:

Why shouldn’t Trump believe the ex-spy who personally oversees literally every shitty thing his government does? After all, they’re kinda besties now:
