It would seem that daddy’s little girl Ivanka Trump is the real one making the White House decisions. Well, at least that’s what her brother Eric Trump implied in an interview with the Daily Telegraph Monday.
Eric told the newspaper he is “sure” his sister Ivanka used her influence over their father to encourage the U.S. launch of military action against Bashar al-Assad in Syria in response to al-Assad’s horrific chemical attack on his own citizens, including innocent young children:
Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I’m sure she said: ‘Listen, this is horrible stuff. My father will act in times like that.
Ivanka’s so-called influence resulted in Trump dropping a sh*tload of bombs: 59 cruise missiles on a Syrian airfield.
“There isn’t a single decent person in the world who saw those images and saw those kids being sprayed down by hoses to keep their skin from burning, who wasn’t deeply affected by what happened over there,” said Eric. “It was horrible. These guys are savages and I’m glad he responded the way he responded.”
Eric made sure to emphasize he’s not part of the White House administration — unlike his sister.
“I stay out of politics and I stay out of the administration but you can tell he was deeply affected by those images of the children,” he said.
Ivanka is a whole other family story. She serves in the role as unpaid assistant to the president and is always a visible presence popping up in every White House photo-op.
“Ivanka is by his side in Washington. She is not involved in everything. I think she comes and goes with issues she deeply cares about but when you get to a certain level of power a lot of times, and you see this in business too, a lot of times people will say yes just because you happen to be the boss,” Eric explained.
From diplomatic meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to the recent Mar-a-Lago tete-a-tetes with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping, Ivanka is at her daddy’s side. Even Ivanka’s daughter Arabella was “employed” to entertain Jinping with a Mandarin song.
Eric’s take on the whole nepotism thing? He said:
I think the beautiful thing about family is you play on a little bit of a different dynamic and once in a while you can pull them aside and say: ‘No disrespect but you might want to think about this or maybe you crossed the line here.’
This First Family think they’re the Romanovs, without the palace. They may not be Russian (but they love Putin), but they do have a palatial New York penthouse and private Florida resort.
But I digress.
The irony of this whole Ivanka-Syria decision is this: Her father ran on his “America First” platform, which by no means comes close to compassionate interventionism. Trump has said he does not want America to play world cop, but with Ivanka getting emotional and all that, I guess the times they are a’changin’.
Another irony? According to Trump and his White House minions, the bombing Syria was a long, hard, thought-out decision. But according to Eric Trump, all it took was one look at Ivanka who the horrific images of young Syrian children and whispered something like, “Oh my, daddy, this is terrible, we should do something.”
KABOOM!. There went those missiles.
If what Eric Trump says is true, that Ivanka pulls the emotional strings at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, what we need to do is get her to haz a sad about things here at home. You know, like equal rights, a woman’s choice, lead in our drinking water opioid addiction, the homeless situation…
