While slamming the Republican party for their feigned focus on the middle class, Bill Maher ended his Friday night by calling them hypocrites for suddenly caring about this issue.
“It’s the new bullshit, and it’s what’s for dinner,” Maher said.
Maher noted half-term Governor Sarah Palin’s attempt to define the ‘status quo’ during her incoherent speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit.
“This raises a troubling question,” Maher said in response to Palin’s speech . “If Sarah Palin suffers a stroke, how will we know? I don’t know from that if Sarah Palin is for or against helping the middle class. And there’s no way to know. But there’s a lot of that kind of talk going around.”
“This is the party that used to like to say a rising tide lifts all boats,” Maher said of the Republican Party. “Which is easy to say when you’re on the yacht.”
”Now they pretend to care about the issue before going back to “servicing eight rich dickheads who own coal mines,” he remarked.
But the ‘large middle class” Maher said, “was created using an economic tool called socialism.”
After World War II, the government “taxed the rich,” he noted. “And massively redistributed that money through the GI Bill.”
“Yes, for a brief, shining moment, we were Finland,” he said. “We can debate whether that’s a good thing or that’s a bad thing to go back to. But the fact is, that’s what happened.”

It wasn’t too long ago that Republicans would trot out Ayn Rand’s dead bones in an attempt to explain why the middle class should feel more pain.
Sarah Palin, the GOP’s freak show, has been paraded out as if she’s the voice for the middle class. Go figure. A grifter singing the praises of hard working Americans.
