An 11-year-old Iowa boy was playing in his backyard with family and friends while another boy (not pictured) was apparently shootin’ his Mom’s weapon next door.
A bullet grazed the 11-year-old’s head, nearly hitting his left eye.
According to a police report, the boy was playing in his back yard in the 2300 block of East 11th Street with family and friends Friday afternoon.
His mother told police she heard a loud bang and saw her son immediately fall to the ground. When she approached him, she noticed he was “out cold” and bleeding from his head, the report states.
The report also says that a neighbor boy on the other side of the back yard fence was seen pacing back and forth. He admitted to firing a weapon, telling the victim’s mother, “I shot my mom’s .22.”
The young victim had to receive stitches from a cut sustained by the bullet, and doctors told police the bullet had just missed the boy’s left eye.
He was treated and released from a local hospital.
How could such a thing happen when we have adults in charge? This Twitter user who is an advocate for Open Carry is a perfect example of the problem in our country.
Even a Conservative disagrees with the Twitter user. We posted that tweet on our Facebook page. Craig weighed in, “I think ill go shit on the public sidewalk in front of this guys house….i can use that sidewalk as a public restroom.”
Yes, let’s all relieve ourselves on the street in front of @Soldier1eaODGm’s house because it’s a ‘public space.’
As much as extremists want us to believe that guns aren’t scary, they sure do pack quite a wallop when a bullet is fired from them at an astounding rate of speed.
Gun rights’ activists want us to feel comfortable around guns, so apparently this kid felt at ease exercising hisself some Second Amendment rights in his backyard while playing with Mom’s gun.
There is no word on whether charges will be filed against the irresponsible gun-owning mother.
In February, neighbors responded when a Florida resident set up a shooting range on his front lawn.
