After a tip from a witness, a 6-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy were arrested Friday afternoon in New Orleans after they allegedly threatened a man with a gun.
The man told the police that the two boys began yelling obscenities at him as he approached them while they rummaged through the bed of a parked truck, the New Orleans Police Department said in a statement, according to NBC News.
According to what the man told police, the older boy pulled a gun from his waistband and threatened to shoot him if he didn’t leave the pair alone.
The two boys were booked into the Juvenile Division for aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile, police said.
The boys, 6 and 11-years-old, live in a state which ranks the highest in the country for gun deaths.
This incident could have played out very differently, with the victim in a hospital or in a casket.
Shootings at the hands of toddlers is now a weekly thing. That’s right, every week in America, a toddler shoots someone.
Gov. Bobby Jindal’s response to the saturation of guns in this country, would be to pray after each shooting. In August, while Piyush was praying for a police officer who was shot in cold blood, the victim died in the hospital. Who stopped the shooter? Unarmed citizens tackled him and held the suspect until police arrived.
As for these two children, they appear to be a product of a lawless state where ‘more guns’ is always the answer.
We would love to know who owned the gun that the boys got their hands on.
