When Hillary Clinton’s was diagnosed with pneumonia, Donald Trump stated, “I hope she gets well, and I hope she gets well soon. It was quite sad, to be honest with you. I hope she gets will soon. No satisfaction, believe me, whatsoever.”
So far so good, and one might have thought that Trump’s conspiracy theories over Hillary’s health had been replaced, for the occasion, by a bit of fair play on Trump’s side.
Because shortly after Trump hinted that there is more behind the diagnosis than what was officially released.
“Like you, I see what I see…Something’s going on”, he said during his interview with “Fox & Friends.”
In theory, meaning if Trump and his supporters were not fully wrapped in their own conspiracies, Hillary’s diagnosis would have meant the end of all the speculations about her coughing in the last events. In theory, even in the middle of a Presidential race, she would have deserved some respect from her opponents, in light of the efforts she put into running her campaign despite not being at her best. Some people got it.
Trump and his supporters did not, and instead used the episode as another tool to try and weaken Hillary’s position by turning pneumonia into a campaign item.
Trump tried (and failed) already in the past to make Hillary’ health the central topic of the race, like when he declared that,
[Hillary] lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on Isis and all of the many adversaries we face.
And Rudolph Giuliani joined him a few weeks ago by stating,
Well, look, I don’t — I don’t — I don’t know whether she’s not — whether she’s sick or she’s not. I do know that there are 14, 15 videos of her that show her in very, very strange condition. I don’t know what it is.
And now Trump is using Hillary’s temporarily sickness also to show off his alleged perfect health, after the embarrassing letter from his doctor he released some time ago.
“I took a physical, and I’ll be releasing when the numbers come in. Hopefully, they’re going to be good. I think they’re going to be good. I feel great,” he said on “Fox & Friends.
Too bad he is not as keen on releasing his tax returns as he is in making his medical records available.
