Evangelical Christian VP Mike Pence Finally Responds To Porn Star Story, And It’s Hilariously Bad

It’s been a while since America had a major political player who was openly, admittedly hard-core Christian — or any other religion, honestly. The reason is simple: It’s off-putting for those that don’t share your fervent beliefs. Nobody wants to think about the fact that a person helping lead their country probably thinks that they personally are going to hell.

But Mike Pence is unabashedly evangelical. The kind who stays up late at night and watches those infomercials with the Talking Bible or the Miracle Salvation Water, and gives 10 percent of his income in tithes and calls his wife “Mother.”

So it was more than a little surprising on Monday to see VP Pence giving a statement from Jerusalem — essentially just declared the center of all Christendom by the Trump administration — about the boss’ affair with a porn star… and lying about it.

That’s the second lie Mike Pence has told into a microphone in two days, and I don’t know what the Pentecostal version of “confession” is, but he’d better get there soon. In fact, both lies have been particularly disgusting and politically self-serving, so we’re no longer in the realm of just lying. We’ve moved on to Pride, Wrath, and Greed, three of the Seven Deadly Sins (or as Trump refers to them, “personality traits”).

When asked about the now-confirmed affair between Donald Trump and adult film actress Stephanie Clifford – AKA Stormy Daniels – Pence called it “baseless allegations,” and said that he “wasn’t going to comment on” them, although “baseless” does seem a strong term for something that has been verified in a 5,000-word article by one of the participants, and a paper trail left for the hush money that was paid to suppress the story.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that Pence would lie so blatantly about this, after telling the troops on Sunday that it was Democrats who were keeping them from getting paid during the government shutdown — when it was the GOP that blocked the bill that would have paid them.

Clearly, Christianity means very little in America anymore among conservatives, who are more than happy to simply twist the truth to fit their political agenda.
