Former Moore Colleague: ‘Common Knowledge’ He Dated High School Girls

A former colleague of Roy Moore in the Etowah county District Attorney’s office tells CNN that “It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird.”

Teresa Jones, who now lives in Sarasota, Florida, first aired the allegation in a comment at the Gadsden Times website, which republished a Washington Post story about Moore dating teenagers when he was in his thirties.

“I was a deputy DA in Gadsden with Roy Moore,” Jones said. “I have no doubt these stories have validity.”

Roy was known to eschew dating his own age and preferred teenagers. I challenge all of my colleagues in the Bar and on the bench at that time to come forward to support that Roy Moore should not be elected to represent the place of my birth and my home for many years.

Jones also tweeted yesterday as the story was discussed on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. It is only the third tweet on her account, which has existed since 2014.

“It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,” Jones told CNN reporter Alexander Marquart today. “We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall … but you really wouldn’t say anything to someone like that.”

According to her law firm’s web page, Jones “served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Gadsden, Alabama” and then Deputy District Attorney for Etowah County from 1982 to 1985. Moore was an assistant district attorney for Etowah County from 1977 to 1982.

On Twitter, Jones responded to a question about why charges were never filed against Moore.
