The other day Roy Moore was accused of having inappropriate contact with underage girls. Not just one, but FOUR women stepped forward and stated that then-prosecuting attorney Roy Moore had sought out their company for the purpose of sexual relations. The youngest was 14 years old, while Moore had been 32 years old.
As with all members of the Republican party who get accused of being sexual predators, the pundits and other GOP members came out in droves to support their fellow misogynistic pig against “false allegations from women who just want money” — or whatever excuse they’re using this week to blame it on the victim. And so Moore called in for a phone interview on Sean Hannity’s radio program.
Then Hannity replayed the radio broadcast during his segment on Fox News. Oops! In his defense of Moore, Hannity at one point before the interview had said the sexual relations were “consensual,” but he has since changed his tune on that score. Considering that in Alabama the age of consent is 16, for him to even utter the word “consensual” when a 32-year-old is having inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old was a suicide in broadcasting moment if ever there were one.
And suicide in broadcasting is exactly what is happening with Hannity. Following in the footsteps of his hero Rush Limbaugh, Hannity is beginning to lose advertisers. As the controversy surrounding his show heats up, consumers are contacting companies and requesting that they pull their money from the show. And, as happened with the Limbaugh show, we’re seeing it work.
