‘He’s Disgusting’: Three New York Buildings Are Taking Down Trump’s Name

Three buildings on New York’s Upper West side are dropping the Trump name, according to CBS. Trump is wildly unpopular in his own city, with the exception of Staten Island.

“The purpose of this change is to assume a neutral building identity that appeals to all current and future residents,” building management said in a letter to its residents. “Using the street address for the building name is popular practice in NYC, and our well-known Riverside address makes it easy for visitors to locate the building.”

A petition from residents last month sought for the name removal.

“It’s been an embarrassment to live in a building with Trump’s name. I wasn’t happy about it when I moved in, but he wasn’t running for president,” one resident said.

“He’s disgusting, and you know it’s embarrassing to tell people you live in a Trump building,” Marjorie Jacobs told CBS,

“The dogs are very comfortable and it’s a pet friendly area. The building is truly beautiful,” she continued.

But Jacobs said with Trump’s name attached to it, it tarnishes the building.

There were, however, some residents who didn’t want the Trump name taken down but didn’t want to go on camera.

Due to a contractual obligation, Equity Residential, which owns Trump Place, said it has an obligation to keep the Trump name.

“We will assess the continued use of the name at the appropriate time taking into consideration the issues raised by the residents,” they said in October.

It’s not just buildings. Businesses are removing Trump products from their inventory.

One of those businesses, Shoes.com, announced on Twitter that it was removing Ivanka Trump shoes from its inventory.

Trump’s name is becoming toxic. It’s just too bad we can’t remove that name from this country. The world is laughing at us and ‘it’s embarrassing.’
