Kellyanne Conway Offers ‘Alternative Facts’ On The Release Of Trump’s Taxes (TWEETS)

According to our new president’s mouthpiece Kellyanne Conway on Sunday, Donald Trump will not be releasing his taxes.

Well, that’s what Conway said Sunday in her interview with ABC News This Week interview George Stephanopoulos.

“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns. We litigated this all through the election,” Conway said.

“People didn’t care,” she added. “They voted for him, and let me make this very clear: Most Americans are — are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like.”

On Monday Conway changed her tune, and offered an alternative fact.

Of course, the Twitterverse responded quickly:

We all remember hearing Trump pledge throughout his campaign that he’d make his tax returns public once the Internal Revenue Service audit was completed. Funny thing is, we never heard from the IRS that he was under audit and, in fact, Trump never released an IRS audit letter. Fact is (real, not alternative), if Trump ever had that letter he would have been perfectly free to release it.

As Newsweek reported:

Even if Trump is being audited by the IRS, there’s no legal barrier to his releasing his returns just as every presidential nominee has done for 40 years—a point made recently by Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who offered to release his under-audit returns if Trump would show his. Nothing in federal law or IRS regulations prohibits a person from sharing tax returns with the public. It is true that some attorneys might advise against it. But what’s not in dispute is the overwhelming public interest in the returns, which is why every presidential nominee and virtually all major party candidates since 1976 have released some of their returns.

Months ago America was shocked to learn that Donald Trump hadn’t paid taxes in nearly two decades. So it’s become obvious that he is now hiding something far worse than that, perhaps something sinister. No one seems to know what it is but it must be something damning enough to damage, if not end his 45th presidency.
