Police say when Chatoya Hunter arrived to work at the store, her husband rammed her door with his SUV, then she jumped out of the truck and ran as Rodriguez Hunter started shooting at her.

WREG reports that witnesses said she begged for her life before being shot in the head and dying in the parking lot.

When a police officer arrived on the scene, Rodriguez Hunter reportedly yelled at the officer to shoot him as he pointed his gun at the officer.

It was just moments later that Hunter turned the gun on himself.

Hunter later died at the Regional Medical Center.

Kroger released the following statement:

“A tragic incident occurred this morning outside our Kroger store on Shelby Drive in Memphis. It is an active police investigation and we are doing all we possibly can to assist the Memphis Police Department. The store will remain closed until the investigation is complete. Grief counselors are onsite to assist our store associates during this time.”
