Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) smacked down Donald Trump’s denials that Russians have interfered with the 2016 presidential election. It’s 2016 and a list of amazing people died, Donald Trump is president and Lindsey Graham is making sense. WTF?
The widening claims from top Intelligence agencies of a Russian espionage operation targeting the presidential race, prompted a bizarre response from Trump. He attacked the Intelligence agencies.
CNN’s Jim Sciutto asked Senators John McCain and Graham what they intended to do if Trump “doesn’t change his tune” on Russia.
Graham said on Tuesday that the president-elect was wrong to deny that Russian hackers interfered with the 2016 U.S. election, according to Raw Story.
“There are 100 United States senators,” Graham said on CNN. “I would say that 99 of us believe the Russians did this and we’re going to do something about it. … After this trip is over, we’re going to have the hearings and we’re going to put sanctions together that hit Putin as an individual and his inner circle for interfering in our election.”
Graham went on to accuse Russia of interfering with democratic elections all over the world. He said “It’s not just in our backyard.”
Trump’s reaction to the Intelligence community is not normal for a president-elect. He skips security briefings but has time for a ‘thank you tour.’ He tweets recklessly about nuclear weapons and he praises Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader is a murderous thug, by the way. It’s straight up insane to not want to have this investigated. That is, unless he’s complicit. ‘Your vote counts’ no longer applies after this election unless we get to the bottom of the hack. It shouldn’t be a partisan issue. It should unnerve everyone knowing our presidential election was influenced by a hostile, foreign government.
