The campus was on lockdown while authorities searched for the shooter.

Yahoo reports:

At least one person was shot in a school library, Daniel Wiggins, assistant operations manager for Wayne County, North Carolina, told CNN.

The suspect is a white, bald man, about 5-foot-11, with a goatee and tattoo over his left eye, CNN reported, citing Wiggins. The suspect was wearing a blue jacket and light-colored pants.

Wiggins told CNN that multiple law enforcement agencies were at the site. The motive for the shooting was not known and it was not clear if there were other victims.

“This is not a drill,” the college said on its website. “The entire campus is on lockdown.”

Gawker reports:

A student government representative told WRAL that the shooter was apparently carrying a long rifle and shot multiple people on a third floor print shop in the Wayne Learning Center.

Wayne County Day School, a private school with about 300 students in prekindergarten through 12th grade, was also on lockdown.
