Man Taking Selfie With Gun Fatally Second Amendments Himself

A man posing with a gun and taking selfies fatally shot himself when the gun went off and struck him in the throat while with his cousin in southwest Houston, according to police.

Click 2 Houston reports that family members identified the victim as 19-year-old Deleon Alonso Smith.

Smith was taking selfies with a gun at an apartment at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and posting the pictures on social media sites when the gun accidentally went off, shooting the 19-year-old in the throat and killing him, according to investigators.

“It’s the worst feeling in my life,” said the victim’s uncle Eric Douglas.

“It’s a numb feeling. It’s still unbelievable. Yesterday was my birthday and he came to wish me happy birthday, and now this kind of news,” said Smith’s grandmother Alma Douglas.

Smith’s family members said the 19-year-old  has two young children and was about to start college Wednesday.

Smith’s cousin was in the apartment at the time of the shooting but in another room.

According to that cousin, they found the gun earlier Tuesday, but investigators are working to find out where.

We’re not sure how this could possibly happen but most of us have seen gun rights activists on Twitter and other social media sites with avatars posing with their guns, so showing your firearm some love is important to these guys enough to want to show off their weapons. ‘Look at me, I have a gun.’

This young father died of stupidity. There, I said it.

This is nothing new. Death-by-selfie has happened before.
