Small said the tree, dedicated Saturday by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association at January-Wabash Park, was found discovered cut in half early Sunday, KMOV reports.

I can’t understand why someone would want to cut down the tree,” one park goer told KMOV. “What, they want to start something back up again?”

The Black Caucus of the American Library Association dedicated the tree to the 18-year-old unarmed black man who was shot and killed by Darren Wilson, a Missouri police officer last year.
