Rep. Lou Barletta’s fundraising efforts in Pennsylvania have been dismal, only raising $550,000 in his fourth quarter, and now Donald Trump has thrown his support behind him. Trump endorsed two losing candidates in deep-red Alabama. He backed Luther Strange in the Republican primary then threw his support behind alleged pedophile Roy Moore for the general election. Moore was defeated by Democrat Doug Jones. Now, he’s’ backing Barletta, a far-right Republican, who, in 2006 did an interview with a Holocaust-denying publication. Barletta has quite a history.

Still, Donald threw his support behind him.

“Rep. Lou Barletta, a Great Republican from Pennsylvania who was one of my very earliest supporters, will make a FANTASTIC Senator,” he tweeted. “He is strong & smart, loves Pennsylvania & loves our Country! Voted for Tax Cuts, unlike Bob Casey, who listened to Tax Hikers Pelosi and Schumer!”

After Trump’s endorsement, Barletta took to Twitter.

“We are revitilizing [sic] the American dream day after day,” the anti-immigrant Republican wrote with a total disregard to the English language. “America will grow America will prosper America will be greater than ever before. #MAGA.”

Democrats on Twitter are overjoyed.

This is true. Barletta was endorsed by David Duke. So was Donald Trump.

Trump won Alabama by almost 20 points in the 2016 election and both of his endorsements failed.

Barletta is challenging Democratic Sen. Bob Casey who has $6.8 million on hand to spend on his re-election campaign. During the last three months of 2017, he raised $2.6 million.
