State Rep. John Bennett, an Oklahoma Republican seeking re-election next week, just added to list of those openly calling for the death of Hillary Clinton.
On Facebook, he wrote, “2 words … firing squad,” in a Tuesday night post that included a link to a conservative blog criticizing Clinton for the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attacks, according to Tulsa World.
By the way, he deleted this post, but you know, this is the Internet:
Bennett told The Associated Press that his comments were intended to be sarcastic, but he then added that he believes Clinton had committed treason, a crime punishable by death.
Here he is trying to explain his call for Hillary’s death. One of his supporters agrees that a firing squad would be OK with him, too.
A retired U.S. Marine who represents Sallisaw, Bennett recently faced criticism for referring to local Muslim leaders “terrorists.”
Here’s Bennett’s family photo which he has posted on his Facebook page:
Nice family militia you got there, Rep. Bennett. We just saw a photo of Donald Trump’s ‘Second Amendment people.’
On Tuesday, Tyler Holmes, 25, of Mississippi, made an assassination threat on Facebook in which he called another person an ‘idiot’ for supporting Hillary Clinton. He continued to say, “I’m only 25 but I do know how crooked the bitch is and I will plan an assassination on her if she’s elected.”
Last month, the Republican Governor of Kentucky warned that there could be bloodshed if Hillary Clinton is elected.
Also last month, a Trump supporter openly told a reporter at a rally for the GOP presidential nominee that “there’s going to be a lot of bloodshed’ if Clinton is elected. We’re starting to see a pattern here.
The reporter then said, “That sounded like a threat.”
The man replied, “What do you think a patriot is?”
We suppose those are examples of ‘sarcasm,’ too.
