Pelosi Unearths Old Trump Tweet Vowing To Not Cut Medicare, And Now He’s Going After The Program

When Donald Trump was on the campaign trail, he promised he would not touch Medicare, a program we pay into during our working years, then as we retire, we get small payments back. It’s our money, but Trump’s new budget seeks to make cuts to the program.

Trump’s tax cuts bill will cost trillions and now he wants to pay for that by cutting entitlement programs by $1.7 trillion, including Medicare, in a fiscal 2019 budget that seeks billions of dollars to build a border wall. Trump’s budget will propose cutting spending on Medicare, the health program for the elderly and disabled, by $237 billion.

House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi unearthed this old tweet of Trump’s in which he said, “I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. Huckabee copied me.”

Trump proposed a $4.4 trillion 2019 budget that calls for steep cuts to many popular government programs. On top of that, Trump is once again trying to repeal Obamacare while leaving the elderly at risk. Under Trump’s plan, tax credits that help most Obamacare customers purchase health insurance coverage would be eliminated. And some beneficiaries in Social Security’s disability program would have to re-enter the workforce under proposed changes to eligibility rules. Everything Trump promised while campaigning, he’s literally doing the opposite now that he’s in office. It’s Trump’s version of the Hunger Games and it’s just as cruel.

Trumop also seeks to slash federal funding for Medicaid by $250 billion over the next 10 years.

Just last year, Trumps promised to balance the federal budget, but again, he’s doing the polar opposite.

Hang on, you guys. It’s going to be a bumpy ride until this buffoon is out of office. Meanwhile, it’s unlikely that his proposal will pass.
