Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and his outrageous tweet du jour sparked outrage, but he’s not backing down.
This congressman from Iowa keeps making news with his hateful and downright bizarre statements, and Sunday was no exception. This time, Steve King retweeted a statement from Geert Wilders, a far-right and anti-Muslim politician from the Netherlands.
He then added: “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”
In other words, Muslim, Hispanic, and Asian immigrants are having too many babies. If right-wing hatriots want to make America white again, then white folks had better start getting busy.
On Monday, CNN New Day‘s Chris Cuomo asked Steve King what the hell he meant by that tweet. The congressman answered, “I meant exactly what I said.” He then added, “it’s a clear message. Yet he also insisted that what he said doesn’t mean what we think it means.
He explained that he’s just repeating what he’s told audiences in Europe, who are apparently as racist as his audiences in the U.S.
“We need to get our birth rates up or Europe will be entirely transformed within a half century or a little more. And Geert Wilders knows that and that’s part of his campaign and part of his agenda.”
Steve King then repeated:
“You cannot rebuild your civilization with somebody else’s babies. You’ve got to keep your birth rate up, and that you need to teach your children your values. In doing so, you can grow your population, you can strengthen your culture, and you can strengthen your way of life.”
An appalled Chris Cuomo declared that un-American and pressed, “who’s somebody else’s babies?” Steve King then explained that he’s fine with “different-looking Americans” as long as they’re “still Americans.” Which likely means, “as long as they support white supremacy and don’t have too many babies.” Of course, Steve King — like his fellow Republicans — is also against sex education, birth control, and abortion. Therefore, many of us will no longer have any choice when it comes to how many babies we have.
Steve King adds that he’d like to see “an America that’s just so homogenous that we look a lot the same, from that perspective.” But he insists that there’s nothing racist about that. Never mind the fact that when the notorious former KKK leader David Duke agrees with something you say, it’s likely racist.
Then, this whitest of all the white “snowflakes” whined about all the liberals who walked out of the room when he started saying racist things and declared: “I’m a champion for Western civilization.” Steve King lamely added these differences had nothing to do with people’s race, but their backgrounds:
“It’s the culture, not the blood. If you could go anywhere in the world and adopt these little babies and put them into households that were already assimilated into America, those babies will grow up as American as any other baby.”
In other words, if we take babies from other cultures and raise them to be racists like us, they’ll be as American as any other baby.
Watch: Steve King wants white Americans to have more babies.
