Rest In Peace: Friends Comfort Dying Man By Telling Him Trump Was Impeached

Michael Garland Elliot passed peacefully on April 6 after kind friends informed him that the current White House Resident, Donald Trump had been impeached.

A friend lied to the Oregon man in order to give him comfort during his final hours, and this lie was the last thing he heard before passing.

According to Elliot’s obituary, his ex-wife, Teresa Elliot, who had remained his “best friend” after their divorce gave him this false news to allow him to pass peacefully.

Elliot’s obituary in The Oregonian states that the (probably) 75-year-old man hailed from Virginia and was a Porsche fanatic and an avid golfer whose clubs often ended up stuck in trees after fits of pique. The obituary then goes on to state:

“Mike ran out of family long ago and is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Teresa Elliott. Though their marriage ran aground, their friendship only grew stronger and hers was the last voice Mike heard. And the last thing she said to him was ‘Donald Trump has been impeached.’ Upon hearing that he took his final, gentle breath, his earthly work concluded.”

Elliot spent his final hours surrounded by friends he had made from him years in the plastics industry, good neighbors, and caregivers from his years of waning health following a stroke.

Teresa Elliot, 68, told The New York Daily News that she had told him that Trump had been impeached over the phone from her Austin, Texas home.

“I knew it was his very, very last moments. I knew that would bring him comfort and it did. He then took his final breath.”

She then described Elliot as a “news junkie” who despised Donald Trump and who had spoken out frequently against the former TV reality show host until his health made it no longer possible for him to speak. Teresa Elliot said:

“He hated his [Trump’s] effing guts.”

Trump has, as of yet, not been impeached, but Mr. Elliot was able to rest thinking that the barely competent and opaque real estate developer was not longer in the Oval Office.

Since Trump’s announcement of his candidacy, a number of Americans have announced their disapproval through final statements and obituaries. A 70-year-old Pittsburgh chiropractor asked that no one vote for Trump in his January 2016 obituary. An 87-year-old stalwart Democrat, who thought Trump was a “pompous ass,” stated in her February 2017 obituary that she was glad she would not have to live through a Trump presidency.

When asked by The New York Daily News if she had any regrets about lying to her former husband about the impeachment, Teresa said:

“If I could leave him with a happy piece of news then why wouldn’t I? And maybe in the end it won’t turn out to be a lie.”
