Rex Tillerson Breaks With The White House, Blasts Russia Over Ex-Spy’s Poisoning

Rex Tillerson

After the attack on an ex-Russian spy and his daughter near their home in Southern  Britain, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson weighed in on the matter.

Sergei Skripal and his daughter were found to have been poisoned with a nerve agent in a public place last week. Tillerson said the attack was “a really egregious act” and “it was almost beyond comprehension” that any government officials would use the poison in a public area.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said Monday that it was “highly likely” that Russia was behind the poisoning. She has given Russian officials until Tuesday to respond to these accusations.

Meanwhile, Tillerson stated that he doesn’t know if the Kremlin was aware of the poisoning, but that the nerve agent used couldn’t have come from anyone else. He also said:

From Ukraine to Syria — and now the [United Kingdom] — Russia continues to be an irresponsible force of instability in the world, acting with open disregard for the sovereignty of other states and the life of their citizens.

Tillerson stated that it “clearly came from Russia” and “certainly will trigger a response.”  The White House has voiced its support for our British neighbors but has decided not to make any comments on whether Russia was involved.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “We are standing with our U.K. ally” after the nerve agent attack but refused to say that Russia is behind the attack.

Considering how much this administration has blown hot air about other shit that really doesn’t matter, citing “Fake News!” for everything, I’m shocked at their caution. Of course, it could be because Trump and Putin are “bros,” but I wouldn’t know anything about that.

Trump still hasn’t applied sanctions to Russia as punishment for interfering in our presidential election.
