With the media hyper-focused on the Republican National Committee, Roger Ailes MAY be on his way out amidst sexual harassment charges brought on by the firing of Fox News host Gretchen Carlson. Granted his possible exit will be very quiet without fanfare considering the fanfare is dedicated to the RNC.

Let me emphasize that Ailes MAY be on his way out – that’s not a definite. Frankly, I find it hard to believe. However, New York‘s Gabriel Sherman reports that:

“Ailes loyalists are reporting back on the investigation to his attorney, and Fox contributor, Susan Estrich. ‘They’re scared to death,’ one Fox anchor told me. ‘The mood is bleak.'”

Sources have shared that James Murdoch is pushing for Ailes to be offered a chance at resigning or being fired after seeing initial findings of a sexual-harassment probe conducted by New York law firm Paul, Weiss. However, Big Daddy Rupert Murdoch is pushing that nothing be done until after the RNC. Regardless, sources are sharing that all of the Murdochs agree Ailes should be gone.

However, 21st Century Fox has not commented nor has Ailes’s spokesperson, Irena Briganti.

The sexual harassment probe being conducted is in response to a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson, former host of The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson. Since filing, more than a dozen women have come forward giving credence to allegations made by Carlson. The allegations cover a period of sexual harassment spanning 25 years. Several women spoke with New York and their stories can be found here.

If this is actually going to happen, WOW. To say I’m shocked would be an understatement. However, it is disappointing that the Murdochs would not come out and state boldly that the sexual harassment of women is unacceptable. The fact they also can’t decide WHEN to axe Ailes is disappointing. If I was informed allegations were true after a probe was conducted, I’d immediately fire them, and I sure as hell wouldn’t allow someone to resign. It’s a step, but it’s a disappointingly embarrassing baby step if it even happens.
