‘System Is Rigged’: Trump Lashes Out Over Voter Fraud Commission – That He Just Disbanded

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he really won the popular vote (he did not win the popular vote) so he set up a voter fraud commission. The former reality show star disbanded the controversial commission on Wednesday, adding another humiliating defeat to his list. So naturally, Trump took his angry little fingers to his Twitter account on Thursday morning to lash out about the commission.

“Many mostly Democrat States refused to hand over data from the 2016 Election to the Commission On Voter Fraud. They fought hard that the Commission not see their records or methods because they know that many people are voting illegally. System is rigged, must go to Voter I.D.,” Trump tweeted.

Trump wrote that without providing evidence to back up his claims.

Advisers outlined hesitation from within the White House for months about the commission, CNN reports.

“It’s a s–t show,” one White House adviser said, adding that the commission went “off the rails.”

Another White House official said that the commission was unable to operate as structured under the Federal Advisory Committee Act; that law mandates a degree of transparency around commission activities and was the subject of litigation against it.

Many states refused to participate after the commission requested wide-reaching information about voters in every state, including dates of birth and partial Social Security numbers.

“VP’s team, though, should have seen that assignment as a s–t sandwich and treated it like a book report,” an adviser said. “Avoid trouble, cite real instances of voter fraud, address structural and technology problems, make recommendations and move on.”

Trump is blaming Democrats even though Republicans didn’t want to dox their constituents either.

Nearly a year ago, Trump tweeted:

Phillips was later scorched on CNN during an interview over a lack of evidence to back up his claims. We see a pattern here.
