A Texas woman posted a message on Facebook reading, “I need someone to come shoot my dog. No one here has the heart to do it. We will provide the gun.”
The post set off a firestorm of attention on the social site Thursday.
That post was made by a woman in Troupe and she was apparently trying to get her dog, a 3-year-old Saint Bernard/English bulldog mix named Cinnamon, killed, according to KHOU.
According to the Animal control officers who picked up the dog, the woman told them she wanted Cinnamon killed because she could no longer care for her and because the dog kept getting in the garbage.
Well there ya’ go, there’s a reasonable explanation for everything.
Watch courtesy of KHOU:
Cinnamon was transported to a foster family who will take care of her until she’s adopted.
“It’s devastating,” said animal shelter coordinator Nanette Moss. “I work with these dogs every day. They are my life, and when she walked through my door it just broke my heart. She’s a sweet dog and how can somebody shoot a sweet dog?”
Cinnamon has been spayed and a vet gave her a clean bill of health Friday. Her shots have been updated and she’s ready for adoption.
For some reason, authorities chose not to press charges since the unidentified woman surrendered the dog to animal control.
We’re wondering why her gun was not taken from her since she was willing to let another person kill with it. Why didn’t this woman give the dog to a shelter or a person capable of attending to dog’s needs – you know, like the need to stay alive.
I hate people sometimes. I’m going to go hug my cat.
