During Donald Trump’s Twitter meltdown this morning, he attacked the media because that’s what he does when he gets negative coverage. Trump tweeted that the New York Times has “big losses and massive unfunded liability.”

“How much longer will the failing nytimes, with its big losses and massive unfunded liability (and non-existent sources), remain in business?” Trump tweeted.

The paper’s public relations team fired back on Twitter, disclosing the increasing number of paid subscribers and rising stock prices.

“That is incorrect. NYT’s business is thriving. Most ever paid subs: 3.3 million; and growing profit, income and revenues,” The NYT tweeted.

The paper also defended the story Trump seems to be upset over when he said ‘non-existent sources.’ The paper reported that advisers to Vice President Pence say that he would run in 2020 if Trump cannot. It also mentions that other Republicans are gearing up to run against the former reality show star.

“We spoke to 75+ Repubs for this story, and we stand by it,” the Times tweeted to Trump. “This type of journalism is core to our mission.”

Every time Trump attacks the New York Times, the paper’s subscriptions sharply increase.

Please, oh please, Mr. Trump, attack our site!

Note to our readers: Please share/tweet our articles. Trump supporting trolls targeted our site’s account and reported it en masse, without cause. This triggered a seemingly automatic suspension. Twitter support has failed to address this issue. Thank you!
