Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee said on Monday that they found no evidence of collusion and abruptly ended the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Republicans offered a report and did not notify Democrats on the committee of their intentions to no longer interview witnesses.
House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) contradicted his own report.
Rooney, speaking on @OutFrontCNN , seems uncertain about finding in report says: The GOP agrees with the “Intelligence Community Assessment’s judgments, except with respect to Putin’s supposed preference for candidate Trump.”

Wow. Rep. Tom Rooney, a GOP intelligence committee member, is undermining his own report on @CNN right now.
Says there’s no doubt that the Russians meddled in the election to help Donald Trump.

GOP Rep Rooney contradicts House Intel Chair Conaway. Says Putin DID develop preference for Trump and try to help him win.

And yet, Trump just declared that he’s totally innocent, even though Democrats had nothing to do with this report.
“THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,” he tweeted in Republican caps.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), tore into Republicans on the committee just after the report.
“By ending its oversight role in the only authorized investigation in the House, the Majority has placed the interests of protecting the President over protecting the country, and history will judge its actions harshly,” he said.
“If the Russians do have leverage over the President of the United States, the Majority has simply decided it would rather not know,” he added.
Republicans cleared their president, so Trump now thinks the investigation is over. Robert Mueller would beg to differ.
