Trump: I Have No Health Care Plan But It Will Be ‘Great’ Now That I’ve Killed Obamacare

Trump wasted no time waking up from his turkey coma this morning and tweeting his newest lie:

The fact is, the mandate pays for less than 3% of the cost of Obamacare. Last year, 6.5 million households paid $3 billion, an average of $461 apiece.

According to the New York Times, the population most likely to need Obamacare – households that make $48,600 or less – will only get $370 from the tax cut plan.

So, as usual, Trump is lying through his dentures.

The real story here, however, is not about the tax bill or Obamacare: it’s about his wildly demented prediction that both parties will work together on a new health care plan that will provide “insurance for everybody.”

A year ago – a year! – Trump said this about his new health insurance program:

It’s very much formulated down to the final strokes. We haven’t put it in quite yet but we’re going to be doing it soon.

We all know how that turned out. Not only did Obamacare not get repealed or replaced, but there’s been no sign of any details of any new and better plan from the GOP.

In any case, crowing about the rollback of the mandate as effectively repealing Obamacare is just plain stupid and wrong. The 2018 enrollment of 8.8 million households was just shy of the 2017 number despite Trump’s cutting the enrollment period in half and cutting advertising by 90%.

You’re fooling no one, Donald. Now put on your sweatpants and go eat some turkey you, you, … turkey.
