Trump Not So Sure About Allowing Open Carry At RNC Convention, Will Read The ‘Fine Print’

A petition which was posted to Change.org asking for the open carry of guns to be permitted at the Republican National Convention in July has garnered a lot of attention.

In Ohio where the convention is to be held, openly carrying weapons is legal but the RNC is holding their gathering at a ‘gun-free’ zone.

We’re very sure the petition is trolly in nature by looking at the comments alone. One reads, “I can haz mah freedom,” but still yet, media outlets appear to be confused as to whether the petition is genuinely from a gun rights group.

For the record, I signed it because more guns will make the Conservatives safer because more guns stop gun violence, therefore more guns ad nauseum. Also, more guns.

The petition states, in part:

According to the policy on their website, “firearms and other weapons of any kind are strictly forbidden on the premises of Quicken Loans Arena.”

This is a direct affront to the Second Amendment and puts all attendees at risk. As the National Rifle Association has made clear, “gun-free zones” such as the Quicken Loans Arena are “the worst and most dangerous of all lies.” The NRA, our leading defender of gun rights, has also correctly pointed out that “gun free zones… tell every insane killer in America… (the) safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.” (March 4, 2016 and Dec. 21, 2012)

Well done.

Donald Trump was asked about the petition and said he wants to study it first.

Trump told ABC’s This Week that he is “a very, very strong person for Second Amendment,” but the GOP front-runner added that, “I have not seen the petition. I want to see what it says. I want to read the fine print.”

Earlier this month, Trump took aim at ‘gun free zones’ so we don’t know what the GOP front-runner’s problem is with allowing guns at the RNC convention.

As of now, the petition has garnered 37,595 signatures and the number is climbing quickly. Ted Cruz and John Kasich were also addressed in the petition but they have not responded.

“We are all too familiar with the mass carnage that can occur when citizens are denied their basic God-given rights to carry handguns or assault weapons in public,” the petition reads.

With Trump predicting riots if he does not secure the GOP nomination, if guns are allowed we think the convention should be livestreamed.
