Donald Trump campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson went off the deep end in an interview on CNN with host Wolf Blitzer Tuesday, implying President Obama was to blame for the death of Capt. Humayan Khan in the Iraq War in 2004.
Whatever Pierson’s on, I want it. Obama wasn’t sworn in as POTUS until January 2009.
Capt. Khan’s parents Khizr and Ghazala Khan appeared at the DNC, where Mr. Khan relayed the story of his fallen Marine son. Capt. Khan, a Muslim-American marine, was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze star for his heroic service. In the speech, Mr. Khan also criticized Trump’s call for a Muslim ban, which is unconstitutional.
Khan’s speech, which has become the most memorable moment at the convention, soon erupted into a war of words between the grief-stricken family and the Republican nominee, who responded immediately by holding interviews in which he attacked the Gold-Star mother.
When Blitzer pressed Pierson on whether Trump plans to apologize for his comments about the parents of Capt. Khan she asked, “What exactly is Mr. Trump supposed to be apologizing for?” She then said that Trump was simply defending himself in his remarks about the Khan family. And then she tried to blame Obama and Hillary Clinton for Khan’s death.
“But surely you can understand the confusion, considering how Donald Trump never voted for the Iraq War, Hillary Clinton did,” she said. “And then she didn’t support the troops to have what they need. It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagements that probably cost his life. So I don’t understand why it’s so hard to understand why Donald Trump was confused about why he was being held responsible for something he had nothing to do with.”
It didn’t take long for Pierson’s revisionist history to take humorous hold on social media, with Twitter users turning into the hashtag game #KatrinaPiersonHistory.

More seriously, Trump’s underhanded interview comments has criticism coming from both sides of the aisle, not just Democrats. While Republicans are distancing themselves from Trump’s controversial remarks, the incident has turned into full-blown civil war within the GOP.
Rumors are flying that GOP officials are desperately trying to replace Trump on the ticket, and that Trump may simply quit the race.
With further focus put on Trump’s visceral reaction to things making him unfit to hold office, the controversy may turn out to be blessing in disguise for Americans. I think this tweet says it for us best:
Twelve years later, Humayun Khan, a hero who died saving the lives of his fellow soldiers in Iraq, may end up saving all of our lives too.

You know what I find to be biggest irony about this? The Republicans voting for Trump after he attacked this Gold Star mother, are the Republicans up in arms Bradley Cooper was in the crowd at the DNC. As you know, Cooper starred as Navy S.E.A.L. sniper Chris Kyle (a right-wing favorite) in the Hollywood movie American Sniper. While Cooper’s performance and the film, directed by Clint Eastwood, received positive reviews, it turned into a public controversy of morality over the mass-bloodshed in the Iraq War.
