Cheeto-in-chief Donald Trump told Laura Ingraham last night on her new Fox news show that he’s the “only one that matters” when asked about the dearth of State Department appointees under his “leadership.” Watch:

For the visually oriented who are fluent in babble, read:

Let me tell you, the one that matters is me, I’m the only one that matters because when it comes to it that’s what the policy is going to be. We don’t need all the people that they want. Don’t forget, I’m a business person and I tell my people, well you don’t need to fill slots, don’t fill them.

The Washington Post maintains a tote board that backs up Trump’s astonishing failure in this arena.

The State Department accounts for 152 positions. Of these, 33 are appointees are confirmed, 38 nominations are pending, and a whopping 81 have no nominee, which belies Trump’s assertion of obstructionism on the part of the Dems:

Here are some of the apparently unneeded appointees:

  • Chief financial officer
  • Undersecretary for arms control and international security affairs
  • Assistant secretary for oceans and international, environmental and scientific affairs

These assumedly vital roles into the confirmed or nominated category:

  • Ambassador, Holy See
  • Ambassador, Estonia
  • Ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom

Melania had better start dropping some more children, or else these positions may never be filled.
