What if, one day, you turned on C-SPAN only to find sexy news anchors, an impressive set, and commercials for gold and the elusive perfect catheter? You might have to gear up for it if Rep. Adam Schiff is right about making Donald Trump testify before the House Intelligence Committee over the Russia investigation because their ratings would blow up.

On CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, the California Representative and ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee told Jake Tapper that he was confused by some self-contradictory things he was told by the deputy assistant to the White House:

[T]he deputy assistant to the White House informed me, when I went to see them, that these are exactly the same materials that were shown to the chairman. Now this is a very interesting point: How does the White House know that these are the same materials that were shown to the chairman, if the White House wasn’t aware what the chairman was being shown?

All this obfuscation may just land Donnie Little Digits in the hot seat himself if Schiff has his way:

Jake, I think the answer may come from the President himself.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, though. Imagining that Trump will do anything but deflect, delay, and be otherwise defensive to avoid taking the stand is an exercise in futility. We haven’t seen him be forthcoming about literally a single thing yet, and there’s no reason to expect he will now.

But seriously: How great would this be? We could have watch parties and eat wings and cheer. Grade House members on their ties and the height of their lapel pins. Start office pools on how long Trump makes it before he has a complete meltdown on live television.

All he ever wanted was to be famous anyway, right?

Tommy Christopher reports:

Even Nunes has previously expressed a willingness to subpoena the Trump administration, and Schiff’s remarks seem to suggest that Trump’s tweets may end up putting him in the hot seat, under oath, before Congress.
