TV Station: We’re Sorry We Wished Jews A Happy Yom Kippur With A Nazi Emblem

We are not sure how this happened but a Chicago television news station used a Nazi symbol during a segment on the Jewish High Holidays on Wednesday: the yellow Star of David that Jews were legally required to wear during the Holocaust.

Talking Points Memo reports:

The stock photo was first flagged by a Chicago editor, who posted a screenshot of the WGN news broadcast online.

So the station apologized stating, “We are truly sorry for inadvertently using an offensive image in our story. We apologize and deeply regret the error.”

That excuse didn’t go down well at all.

So the station took to its stupid Twitter account again..

European Jews were legally required to wear the yellow badge or distinguishing clothing going back as far the 13th century. The practice was phased out but the Nazis resurrected it during the Holocaust and we know how well that turned out.

Again, we do not know how it’s possible for the station to make such a ridiculously stupid mistake but they’re ‘sorry.’
