Two Brothers Playing With A Gun, 9-Year-Old ‘Accidentally’ Shot Dead

A 14-year-old California boy and his brother were ‘playing’ with a gun when it discharged at around 12:10 on Saturady, fatally shooting the younger sibling.

The 9-year-old victim died in what is described as an ‘accidental’ shooting, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies said.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to ABC 7.

“The gun was in a box covered up. They found it, pulled it out, started playing with it and one shot the other,” Perris Mayor Daryl Busch, who lives nearby, said.

Deputy Patty Stoyer said she did not know if the shooting was inside of a home, or if any adults were present.

One neighbor said that the boys had thrown a party the night before and a gun was fired.

“They were throwing a party, and then it got crazy and I guess they were like doing some gunshots yesterday and they woke up … around noon and then I’m guessing he played around, like, a gun and then he, like, shot him,” neighbor Victor Velosco said.

Busch says the family bought the home and moved in about 6-8 months ago.

More details will be released later, according to authorities.
