The good people of the red state of Utah saw red last night at a town hall meeting held by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) in his home district. His angry constituents pelted him with a nonstop cacophony of boos and anti-Trump chants over his dogged defense of unconstitutional behavior by the alleged president and his administration.

Chaffetz, leader of the House Oversight Committee and Government Reform Committee, has defended the Trump administration every step of the way. Case in point: he told CNN that he has no plans to investigate Trump over his almost certain violation of the “Emoluments Clause” in the Constitution.
In his defense, Chaffetz has teamed with the top Democrat on the committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), to jointly refer Kellyanne Conway to the Office of Government Ethics for her promotion yesterday on “Fox and Friends” of Ivanka Trump’s fashion line, which very likely is a violation of ethical conduct standards.
Even Chaffetz could not let this one go without losing what little credibility he has left. Still, this is the man who led the witch hunt against Hillary Clinton over the Benghazi debacle and her private email server. This and his hands-off approach to Trump’s obvious conflicts of interest show where his loyalty lies.
In any case, his constituents showed him last night exactly where they stand. Here are some of the less caustic sentiments:
Retired teacher: “I could usually tell with some kids after 2 or 3 weeks if they were going to be a problem. It’s been 2 or 3 weeks.”

Chaffetz is getting booed by my mother in the auditorium of my old high school. Sometimes, life is beautiful. #ChaffetzTownHall

Clearly, Chaffetz is on notice.
