During an Ann Arbor school board meeting, about 25 rootin’ tootin’ armed Open Carry supporters showed up to object to a proposal to ban guns in schools.
Joshua Wade, 22, walked into an Ann Arbor high school with a gun strapped to his hip for the second time this month Wednesday night.
On this occasion, he was joined by around 25 other heat-packing members of Michigan Open Carry, however, a group that came out to discuss gun rights at the Ann Arbor Board of Education meeting along with hundreds of concerned citizens and parents.
A teacher at Pioneer High School called police earlier this month after noticing Wade at his sister’s choir concert with a freedom pistol strapped to his side.
Raw Story reports:
The Ann Arbor Board of Education met on Wednesday night, and Wade came packing heat. And so did 25 other open carry activists, according to MLive.
“As a law abiding citizen, I’m very concerned that this board may attempt to circumvent state law in the area of firearms regulation,” Wade told the board. “Board members, I hope that you yourselves, like me, are law-abiding citizens.”
The otherwise quiet audience burst into laughter at Wade’s claim that “guns in schools just makes sense,” causing the board to call for silence.
“The reason we have seen so many tragic school shootings is that laws across the nation have made our schools mass murder enablement zones,” he insisted. “The more good people who carry in our schools, the fewer criminals will see those schools as easy targets.”
A few other open carry activists addressed the board but overall, speakers opposing guns in school were in the majority.
“Mr. Wade told [WXYZ] Channel 7 News that it was his Christian duty to do this,” one man said. “I see that as an insult to people of faith everywhere.”
“We don’t want guns in our schools and the safety of our students and school community is paramount,” said Ann Arbor school board President Deb Mexicotte at the start of the meeting.
Mexicotte said schools can’t change the state law which allows concealed pistol license holders to open-carry in schools, but she said that a resolution will be introduced that, if passed, would request state lawmakers to ban guns from school grounds.

Back in the day, I went to what was considered the roughest high school in New Orleans. Security checked us for weapons upon entering the school. I can only imagine if guns were allowed the carnage that would be embedded in my memory for a lifetime.
Here’s Open Carry Michigan. The Little Feller on the right looks like he’s ready to shoot his dick off for freedom.
Open Carry in schools? You must be joking. Wade has a Concealed Carry Permit, but he just had to Open Carry, thus upsetting those around him. Because of their extreme desires where open carry has become such a focus, guns might be banned from school premises. They are their own worst enemies and a detriment to responsible gun owners everywhere.
