After amateur president Donald Trump returned from his short trip overseas, he said, “We have been gone for a long time. Everywhere I go — we have been gone close to nine days, this will be nine days — I think we hit a home run no matter where we are.” Yeah, that’s an exact quote, which is kind of weird since after only three days overseas Trump was reportedly ‘exhausted.‘ Even before he left, he asked for the nine-day trip to be shortened to just five days. But, we understand, Mr. Trump, because it seems like you were there for ages after watching how you embarrassed our country, from riding in a golf cart behind world leaders as they took a walk together down the streets of Taormina, Sicily, to offering a cute curtsy to the Saudi King.

To top that off, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni gave the former reality show star quite a look after Trump gave him the middle finger.

Watch:

That’s what you call ‘bad optics,’ don’t you think?

The Internet agrees.

“People are less worried than they were six weeks ago, less afraid,” a senior German government official told Politico. “Now they see the clownish nature.”

Or, as another German said on the sidelines of a meeting here devoted to taking stock of 70 years of U.S.-German relations, “People here think Trump is a laughingstock.”

Well, we’d be laughing, too, except we’ve been busy cringing. Reading Trump’s Twitter timeline is embarrassing enough, but in real life, he surpasses that while in the presence of world leaders.
