One man who voted for Trump in 2016 said on CNN Monday that if Jesus Christ said the former reality show star colluded with Russia, he would still have to check with Trump to see if it was true. Trump’s cult-like following prefers Trump over Jesus. In addition, panelist Mark Lee, one of six Trump voters to appear on the segment, thinks the so-called president is keeping his promise to ‘drain the swamp’ even though it has now been filled up with Goldman Sachs alumni.

“If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, ‘Hold on a second. I need to check with the president if it’s true,’” Lee said.

“Trump is there for the small guy, he’s there for people like myself,” Lee said of the man backing the GOP tax plan that affords tax cuts for the wealthy.

Lee said the “swamp” was “the mainstream, the elites that look down on a guy like me.”

Another Trump supporter, Ruben Estrada, also spoke of draining the swamp and pointed to the House and Senate.

“You make it more accountable to the people,” Estrada said.

Trump filled his cabinet with multimillionaires but that didn’t bother Lee.

“I love that,” he said. “They’re not politicians.”

Watch:

The fever is going to break at some point soon and Trump voters will find themselves awakening to the same nightmare scenario the rest of us are witnessing. Evangelicals backed Trump even after the Access Hollywood tape was released and after he was accused of sexual harassment by 16 women. You know, exactly the opposite of what Jesus would do. But you know who doesn’t have to ask Trump first if he’s guilty of crimes? Robert Mueller, that’s who.
