White House Spokesperson: The Border Wall May Not Be An Actual Wall

Looks like Donald Trump has been caught in yet another massive lie regarding the oft-mentioned border wall he plans to build on the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp, who appeared on CNN Tuesday, the border wall is kinda more like, you know, a “border wall system,” but not actually a wall along the entire U.S. border with Mexico. Schlapp told host Brianna Keilar:

“Do you understand what a border wall system is? It is a physical wall and in certain areas, if you look at where the wall would be placed you can’t somehow put some physical barriers — that’s where you need personnel and technology. So it is a — it’s a border wall system.”

So, Keilar wondered, will there be a wall? Schlapp got snippy and asked why Keilar was so obsessed with a “brick and mortar” wall. Keilar reminded Schlapp of what Trump himself had said thousands of times:

“Because of what the president himself has talked about.”

Trying to dodge the question while not having to admit that once again Trump had been caught red-handed in one of his YUGE lies, Schlapp remarked:

“There are different components to it…By saying building the wall, it clearly means there’s a technology component to it.”

Sounds also like there’s a bullshit component to it that could be stacked high enough to obscure the view from outer space, like nearly everything this White House says.

So let’s see how this works: There’s the wall, which is not exactly a wall, and there’s technology, and also border agents. Apparently, the wall will be in our minds and will make us safer even though it won’t actually exist. Guess that makes it exactly like the middle-class tax cuts that only benefit you if your definition of middle-class is a salary of more than $1 million a year.
