Last week the nation was heralding an unidentified bicyclist as a hero for flipping the bird at Donald Trump’s passing motorcade as he returned from his Virginia golf course after yet another round of golf. Since the photo, taken by a White House photographer that was traveling with Trump went viral, the cyclist’s heroism has turned into a job hunt.

Juli Briskman, the 50-year-old mother of two, was fired over the photo. From HuffPost:

Briskman decided to tell Akima’s HR department what was happening when she went to work on Monday. By Tuesday, her bosses called her into a meeting and said she had violated the company’s social media policy by using the photo as her profile picture on Twitter and Facebook.

So, because she readily stepped forward and told the HR department at her place of employment, “That was me,” she was rewarded by being fired by her employer, government contractor Akima LLC. Virginia is an “at-will” employment state, which means that an employer can fire an employee for any reason or absolutely no reason at all. In the interview with HuffPost, Briskman relayed:

… a male colleague kept his job after recently posting lewd comments on his Facebook page that featured Akima LLC as his cover photo. She said this colleague was reprimanded for calling someone “a fucking Libtard asshole” on Facebook, but was allowed to delete the post and keep his job.

When asked why she flipped off the motorcade, Briskman’s response was:

He was passing by and my blood just started to boil. I’m thinking, DACA recipients are getting kicked out. He pulled ads for open enrollment in Obamacare. Only one-third of Puerto Rico has power. I’m thinking, he’s at the damn golf course again.

Is she angry or upset? Nope. She is looking for a new job in a field that better suits her passion for advocacy and her distaste for a Trumpian world. She actually likes where she is right now:

In some ways, I’m doing better than ever. I’m angry about where our country is right now. I am appalled. This was an opportunity for me to say something.

With that attitude and that photo on her resume, there is little doubt that Briskman will not remain unemployed for long. We wish her the best of luck in her job search.
